Finding the Perfect Wedding Venue

How do you find the perfect wedding venue for your big day?  Do you know what kind of wedding you want? Will it be formal or informal? A traditional wedding or a modern, innovative party? Will it be held at night or during the day? Indoors or outdoors? Is having a garden ceremony a deal breaker?
By identifying the geographical area and the most important elements of your dream wedding before you start looking for a venue, you can really narrow down your search. Some wedding venues have strict rules and regulations. If most of your guests smoke, then pick a location that doesn’t restrict smoking. If alcohol is going to be consumed, make sure it’s allowed and find out if bar service needs to be licensed. If dancing and a big band are critical, then limit yourself to those locations that can accommodate them and the accompanying decibels. Do you have children, seniors or disabled guests, etc.  If so, you need to plan for them, too. It’s essential that you identify the special factors that are important for your event before you sign a contract.
Catering and venue account for the greatest portion of a wedding’s budget.  If you want Fat Freddy’s Catering to provide your food, then you need to make sure that your venue will allow you to (BYO) bring your own caterer.  Below is a list of venues that will allow you to bring your own caterer; we hope this helps you begin your search for the perfect wedding venue.

Your Backyard or a Rental VRBO

Our Favorite Venue is the one in your backyard.  If your home isn’t big enough, then take a look at VRBO or Airbnb and rent a house.  The house can also be used as a honeymoon night suite for the bride and groom.  The money you save on a venue and hotel reservations can be used toward a few rentals and menu upgrades.  We have our own Rental Coordinator who can do a site visit or a Google Earth Search to map out the dimensions of the backyard.
